Jesus our righteousness
-Jeremiah 23:5-6
-Jeremiah 23:5-6
One of the most powerful names of God is Jehovah Tsidkenu which means the Lord our righteousness. This is a name that is replete with a lot of power because it represents our identity and where there is identity crises, a man is completely lost and without a bearing. The righteousnes we have before God has everything to do with whose we are and our the fruits of accepting that we have become the righteousness of God is the godly lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our actions are firmly predicated on who we see ourselves to be.Jesus has taken our sins upon himself and given us his priceless righteousness which he wove when he came on earth and obeyed the Moral and ceremonial law. perfectly -2 corinthians 5:21.
But for this exquisite exchange between Jesus and us, nothing could have stopped us from hell fire.A deep appreciation of this sacrifice invariably leads to lifestyle of gratitude which means a deep hatred of sin and love for righteousness
When we turn our attention to how much cruelty and ignominy the savior suffered on account of our sins, we bow down not only in shame but with a firm resolve to revenge his death by the crucifixion of our sins. The more his suffering on our behalf becomes clearer, the farther away from sin we want to go.Those of us who know the humiliation of suffering on a Roman cross are cognizant of our indebtedness to our lovely savior. We also observe at the outset that every sin of the believer has in it a measure of ingratitude, for since our savior has suffered by reason of our sins, we are ungrateful when we wander into sin! Since He came to destroy the works of the devil, it is ungrateful to build up again that which He has destroyed. The very thought of it is treason! Since these sins of mine were my best friend's worst enemies,it would be sad indeed if I entertain them. Our sins were the nails and unbelief the spear that caused the death of our wonderful redeemer. If a woman saw her husband's murderer and gave her heart to him, what should we think of her? May the Lord, by His grace, prevent us from being equally shameless.
