Being a leader of a radio Station

Being a leader of a Christian radio station has taught me a lot of lessons and broaden my scope of understanding of life. The aim of the radio station is to win souls for Christ and everything we do is to have a tremendous impact not only on Christians but influence people in every way possible.

As the leader, I always raise the bar by going to work as early as possible to start the morning program which includes preaching and also playing gospel music. That lifts up people because a lot of people start their day in anxious mood not knowing what the day has in store for them. I get to know a lot of pains people go through when I open the phone lines for people to share their testimonies. There is one story of an old lady which made me very emotional. She called in to the program to complain about not seeing her only son for the past forty five years and asked if I would accept to be her son. Tears began to stream down my cheeks.

I love to be the one to bring hope and inspiration to people so right after the morning show, I do a brief meeting with my staff and direct them on what to do for the day. We end our meetings by singing praises to God. I then start receiving visitors who have come for different reasons like commercials and counseling. I go through the counseling and also listen to the radio at the same time because I have to give an objective analysis of each program to the presenters not only to increase the number of people who listen but above all to bring glory to God.

Checking various Christian websites is also part of my job. I check to gather Christian news and also to search for new songs. The kind of music we play as a radio station speaks volume about us. It has to be music for Christians all over the world which means I have to dedicate myself to researching and talking to Christians from different backgrounds. Taking surveys over the phone also play a key role in our ministry. Feedbacks direct us on what to do to improve and continue in our work of propagating the gospel.

Social media is also important in radio. I always make sure to put our program outline on Facebook and Twitter. That increases the number of listeners. It enables listeners to also give us real time feedback on the songs being played and what they think of any topics being discussed. At the end of the day, I put all the programs together and post it on YouTube which enables listeners to see exactly what transpired in the studio.
